About The Artist
Senior Artist Gisel Calvillo
puts a Latin twist on each of her stand-out, high glamour looks. Originally born in Mexico, she began her career in San Francisco. These days she can be found working on editorials around the world and spends a lot of time in the Carribean. Unsurprisingly then, she sites travel amongst her hobbies, as well as Salsa dancing, which she believes gives her a sense of confidence. “It’s important to feel good,” she explains, recalling a makeover she gave to a woman who was going through a divorce. “It was important to help her realize her self-worth.” Here Gisel tells us a little more about her eventful and rewarding career so far.
Glamour Puss
“I’ve loved lipstick since I was a little girl. Salsa dancing is one of my favourite hobbies and it is common for the dancers to wear a bright shade. I like to have a minimalistic approach to my look so I use Opulash and Ruby Woo Lipstick. I really like glamour and one of my career highlights was working on the Latin Grammys.”
All in the Blend
“When I decided to go pro it was all about the eyes. Blending and mixing colour was my passion. I always begin by using Studio Finish Concealer because it helps keep dark circles away. I usually mix it with a bit of moisturizer to make it lighter in texture. If I’m going out I’ll use a liner in Teddy or Smolder Eye Kohl inside the waterline and use a heavier mascara to give me extra volume.”
Turkish Delight
“One of my favourite places in the world is Istanbul in September. If I’m traveling there, I take Mineralize Concealer because it is so easy to blend into skin for a flawless finish. I would also take Extended Play Lash – a waterproof formula that resists smudging and clumping – and Style Powder Blush, which has a beautiful sun-kissed hue that subtly warms up my skin tone.”
